WEINMANN, Johann Wilhelm. EHRET, George; "Primula alpina Lerchen-Rheinlein". Plate 834 & "Tragopogon Sylvestre, Barbe de Bouc". Plate 978. From "Phytanthoza Iconographia". Regensburg. 1737-45 - Mezzotint & line engraving on laid paper. Printed color, hand finished. This series was printed in colour and hand finished, and is one of the earliest examples of color printing. It is also the first published collection to include the work of George Ehret, one of the most important botanical artists of the 18th century. In gold molded frames with French ruled mats, glazed, OS: 23 1/2" x 18 1/2", SS: 13 1/2" x 8 1/2". Good condition.
