Description
24.25" x 19.5"painting on paper with .5" silk border, framed 25.5" x 30.25" This Qing dynasty styled painting is extremely old, possibly painted during the Qing dynasty (1644-1911). The scene depicts 9 men at a table eating, The individuals are wearing Qing era hats and clothes, their hats identifying their rank and reflecting a meal among officers of the Imperial palace sitting on Qing dynasty-styled furniture, the entire piece comes together in a beautiful representation of daily palace life for the officers of the Imperial guard. It's unique horizontal orientation makes this large piece stand out, and with the finely trimmed border of silk, it is truly a treasure. Undated and unsigned, the matting may be hiding a stamped signature, but there is none evident on the image itself.
