Description
A GROUP OF TWO JAPANESE BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN WARES, CHARGER AND PLATE, ATTRIBUTED TO THE MEIJI ERA (1868-1912), underglaze blue painted porcelain, the charger, an imitation in the Qing Dynasty export Kangxi taste of the 17th/18th century with a petal form scalloped edge painted with a mysterious landscape encircling a band of honeycomb florets and centering a landscape scene with the "Three Friends," pine, plum, and bamboo accompanied by pairs of cranes, phoenix and swallowtail butterflies, the exterior with bushy flourishes, diameter: 17"; and a floriform plate with an outer band of blooming flowers, two blue rings encircle a landscape scene with a pine tree, rocks and flowers with a descending crane and another standing, diameter: 12 1/2".
Condition
Some minor wear, surface scratches, minor chips and losses, soil within crevices, but overall in good to very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
