Description
Description: This beautiful stein was produced by Villeroy and Boch in Mettlach in 1895. The stein is made in shape of a beer keg or barrel - this is one of very few Mettlach steins that could qualify as "character" steins.
It is made of typical for Mettlach marble stoneware imitating wood structure with sculptured staves and applied tan stoneware relief hoops. The lid is inlaid with the same stoneware inlay imitating the barrel's lid and decorated with a hops leaf and cone..
The stein was very popular at the time - it is one of a very few models that were produced since 1860s to early 1900s - for 40 years!.
It is marked with VB mercury mark, model number 675 and 03 for the year mark. It is in absolute excellent condition with no chips, cracks or other damages or repairs and white unstained interior. The stein is 6" tall, 0.5L capacity
