Description
EXTREMELY RARE ROCKBRIDGE CO., SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA CAST-IRON STOVE PARTS, LOT OF FIVE, comprising a side plate lettered "VESUVIUS / FURNACE" at top, a pair of tall, slightly curved end plates, and a pair of short, slightly curved end plates, all with matching fern-like ornamentation. Together with a base plate, interior plate, and bar, all of unknown association. Eight pieces total. Second quarter 19th century. 28 1/2" x 34" OA side plate.
Side plate with medial crack, other pieces in good as-found condition with light rust and pitting.

Catalogue Note: Vesuvius Furnace was in operation from 1828 to 1854.
