These methods are accepted by the international jewelry trade but may make the gemstone less strong and/or require special care over time. All types of gemstones may have been improved by some method. You may request a gemological report for any lot which does not have a report if the request is made to us at least two weeks before the date of the sale and you pay the fee for the report. We do not obtain a gemological report for every gemstone sold in our sales. If we have gemological reports from internationally accepted gemological laboratories, such reports may be described in the Sale Particulars. Laboratories may not agree whether a particular gemstone has been treated, the amount of treatment or whether treatment is permanent. The gemological laboratories will only report on the improvements or treatments known to the laboratories at the date of the report. For jewelry sales, all condition estimates are based on the information in any gemological report or, if no gemological report is available, you should assume that the gemstones may have been treated or enhanced.
