Continental School
(First Quarter 19th Century)

"Exotic Birds in a Park Setting"

pair of oils on canvas
unsigned.
Both presented in matching frames.
each 53" x 34", framed 56-7/8" x 37-1/2"
Condition
In generally good condition. Both examples with craquelure and cupping throughout. Both with stretcher marks and both relined and both with exposed taped edges. Both with surface soiling and darkening of the varnish layer. Example with the white bird with noticeable losses to paint, mainly in the sky and trees area. The other example with pinprick-sized losses. Both examples with inpainting touch- ups. Example with the large bird has most notable inpainting repairs to the wings of the smaller bird in flight. The other example with most notable inpainting repairs to the sky and lower left area.
