Description
Two colorful pastel landscapes, Two O/B Impressionist landscapes with barns, unsigned, but painted by Dr. Arnolds Jurjevics, Poughkeepsie NY, 20th century. Approximately 15.5" x 20" & 17.5" x 20". Both very good condition. Provenance/Family History: Dr. Arnolds Jurjevics was born in Riga, Latvia, in 1906. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Latvia and was a practicing physician in Latvia until 1944. He and his family fled from the communists in 1944 and, after six years in refugee camps in Germany, came to the U.S. in 1951 and eventually settled in Poughkeepsie NY. Besides a medical practice, he was an avid painter, sculpture, ceramicist, cabinet maker and musician. He was a self taught artist and his work has never before been offered for sale.
