Description
[Military] Over 144 items. Sold with all faults. ++ About 15 real photo postcards involving Army personnel in the Panama Canal Zone. Several have a caption inserted by the photographer specifying the image as involving the 11th Engineers, often the 1937 exercises. Mostly very good. ++ 4 similarly sized photographs (not postcards) showing Army personnel, 1 with “1942” date inked on verso. ++ Press photo of C. L. Norden. (8th Air Force. Invented the Norden Bombsight). ++ 2 real photo postcards of the S. B. A. Circus (minstrels). ++ 5 other postcards (not real photo). ++ 2 photographs signed by Randolph M. Pate (Commandant of the Marine Corps 1956-1959). 1 signed and inscribed on matting, 1 directly on the photo. 4to. Under glass. Not examined out of frames. ++ Over 110 photographs mostly taken by a member of a unit stationed in Hawaii. A couple have ink V-J Day date. Margins of 1 group shot has marginal notation “The old Chiefs hangout. Chiefs farewell…C.P.O. Club was taken Sept 17th 1945. Pearl Harbor Honolulu.” Includes 1 group shot dated “4/29/44” and captioned “Officers and C. P. O.’s/ 26th Special Battalion Co. A. Camp Rousseau.” Several other group shots, some individual sailors. Several taken on water. A few photos are earlier. 7 small photos show participants in an International Seamans Union strike. 1 verso is dated as 1934, in Tampico, Mexico Largest 4to. Smallest less than 2 ½ in. Largely about 2 ¼ x 3 ½ in. Many very good to near fine, Others have creasing or other forms of wear. ++ At least 6 other photos of Army and navy personnel.
