Description
BRITISH HISTORICAL PRINTS, LOT OF TWO, comprising "The Army and the Navy", a mezzotint by T. Doney after an original work by J. P. Knight, depicting a famous interview between The Duke of Wellington and Lord Nelson during the Napoleonic Wars; and an engraved image of "Sir Walter Scott" in his study. Each loosely housed in a red matte. Circa 1846. Wellington and Nelson 26 1/4" x 20" plate, 29 3/4" x 24" object.

Provenance: Property of a Virginia private collector.

Condition
Sir Walter Scott with overall toning and scattered foxing, discoloration, margins trimmed, edge wear and losses. Wellington and Nelson with crease / fold lines, overall light toning and losses to one edge (obscured by matte).
