c.1928 BREVET Swiss 800 Silver Pocket Watch
Item Details
Description
Fine antique pocket watch with an open-face, solid .800 Silver case. Arabic 12-hour numerals and golden hands. Convex front glass. Marked well throughout - A Crown and 800 mark, as well as other hall marks and numbers under the first back cover and inner cover, and BREVET No. 251825 and DEPOSE on the mechanism. Also etched on the inner cover - Ancre Spiral Breguet - 15 Rubis. This is a common inscription on some antique watches, inscribed by various firms to lend them credibility and as a homage to A.-Louis Breguet, master watchmaker. Inscribed on the outside with a date mark - May 25, 1928, possibly when this was given as a gift. Swiss in origin. Enamel face. Measurements: Approx. 2" diameter, 2.75" with the loop. Weighs about 2.75 oz.
Condition
Some wear from extensive use. It cannot be wound, and as we are not watch and clock experts, we are unsure of the reason. The movement looks intact, so it may be a minor issue, however, it is not currently in working order. Some chips on the enamel face, between the 4 and 5 o'clock marks and the 10 and 11 o'clock
