Description
FREDERICK CO., VIRGINIA FRAKTUR BIRTH RECORD, watercolor and ink on paper, a bold example inscribed "Caroline Clutter / Was born Aug 29th 1830", with a double border and featuring a large tulip. Modern wooden frame. Attributed to the circle of the Virginia Record Book artist, Frederick Co., VA, possibly by a student of the artist. Circa 1830. 10" x 7 1/2" sight, 13" x 10 1/2" OA.

Provenance: Collection of the late John and Lil Palmer, Purcellville, VA.
Ex-collection of Leah and the late Bill Pollard, Purcellville, VA.

Catalogue Note: Caroline Clutter was the daughter of Peggy Ann Clutter (b.c. 1807). In the 1850 Federal Census for Hampshire Co., VA (now West Virginia) she was living with her mother and siblings in the home of her grandparents, Joseph P. and Suzanne Clutter.
Condition
Good condition overall with some toning, staining, and fading, small separations at fold line in center.
