A FINE & VERY RARE 20K SOLID GOLD HALF-QUARTER REPEATING BREGUET POCKET WATCH WITH JUMP HOUR HAND, REF. 3795 CIRCA 1823, WITH ARCHIVE EXTRACT ( DELIVERED TO JOUSSELIN & BRASCH FOR PRINCE BELOSSEISKY ON JANUARY 11, 1823) D: Silver Guilloche dial with Roman numerals, off set subsidiary seconds dial between 3 & 4 o'clock, blue steel Breguet hands. M: Key wind gilt movement with over hanging ruby cylinder escapement, blue steel flat hair spring, compensation curb, repeating on a single gong activated by a pull, twist and plunge motion. C: By master case maker Tavernier, engine turned hinged case back, cuvette signed Breguet and numbered, case diameter measures approx 53mm excluding the neck and bow. Prince Belosselsky-Belozersky of the Hussar Guard From the archives of Jacques Ferrand. Espere Alexandrovitch Belosselsky-Belozersky (1802-1846) Son of Prince Alexandre Mikhailovitch Belosselsky-Belozersky (Imperial Ambassador, Senator, and member of the Academy of Sciences), and his wife Anna Kozitzky. Espere Alexandrovitch Belosselsky-Belozersky was an officer in the regiment of the Hussars of the Guard, of the Russian Emperor, General Major in the Emperor's suite. The watch is of a very high standard; jeweled to the center, with repetition system developed by Breguet along the principles laid out by Stogden, and a jump hour mechanism for easy reading. Jousselin & Brasch were important merchants in Russia, with many aristocratic clients.
