A late 19th century lithograph entitled "A Midnight Race on the Mississippi" by Currier and Ives. Lithograph on heavy paper with hand painted Gouache detail. Depicts a race between the paddle wheelers "Natchez" and "Eclipse" under a full moon with fire and smoke emanating from the stacks. Some discoloration and staining, all margins trimmed, some water splash marks, 6" scratch lower left. Image 27 7/8 x 18 1/8", sheet size 27 7/8 x 21 5/8", framed 37 1/2 x 31 1/4" overall. ESTIMATE $1,000-2,000
