1775 Colonial PA 50 Shillings Note, Days Prior to the Outbreak of War

1p, measuring 2.75" x 3.25", Pennsylvania, dated April 10, 1775. A printed currency note, No. 465, equal to "FIFTY SHILLINGS. According to an ACT of General Assembly of Pennsylvania, passed in the 15th Year of the Reign of His Majesty George the Third…" Signed by Lindsay Coats, Edward Roberts, and Job Bacon. Printed by Hall and Sellers. Decorated on verso with a wheat stalk border and an engraving of the town hall. The verso also reads "To Counterfeit is DEATH." With moderate toning and light soiling. Mounting residue at the corners on verso. Boldly signed. Overall, very good.

A colonial currency note, dating just days before Paul Revere's historic ride and the start of the American Revolution. The piece is an excellent example of paper currency printed just before the Colonies were thrown into war.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
