Description

A pair of antique Victorian-style Parian porcelain vases. The vases are made in the shape of a hand holding a flower bud. Unmarked. Circa: late 19th century to early 20th century. The Disembodied hand wares were popular in the Victorian Era. Parian ware is a type of biscuit porcelain imitating marble. It was developed around 1845 by the Staffordshire pottery manufacturer Mintons, and named after Paros, the Greek island renowned for its fine-textured, white Parian marble, used since antiquity for sculpture.
