9th-10th century AD. A bronze bow brooch comprising: vertical stem, hollow to the reverse, with carinated bow and animal-head foot, incised linear ornament and triangular ears, catch to the reverse; applied crescent arms terminating in slender beast-heads replicating the upper end of the stem; substantial ferrous spring with bronze terminals.
