Description
Hippolyte Francois Moreau (French, 1832-1927) bronze sculpture titled "Consolation" depicting an older female protectively embracing a younger female, both holding a flower basket and standing on a circular naturalistic base. Signed on the base "Hte. Moreau". 22" H x 10 3/4" W x 8" dia. 47.6 lbs. Biography: Hippolyte Francois Moreau was the son of prominent sculptor Jean-Batiste Moreau, and grew up learning from his father. He was exhibited in the Paris Salon of 1889 and 1917. Overall very good condition. Light wear to patina to areas where the sculpture was handled over time, commensurate for age.
