Painting: 19th c. portrait of a gentleman. Oil on wood panel. Possibly Stephen Barker, (2) labels verso, one typed label affixed to frame reads "Stephen Barker / Son of John and Sara Harker, B. Apr. 29, 1756 / D. May 8, 1837 / Became adopted son of-/ Stephen and Deborah Barker / Married Margaret Hyde, Sept. 1, 1781.". The second hand written label reads "Portrait of Margaret Hyde Barker / Wife of Stephen Barker, belongs to / Betty Cr...". Provenance: Duane E. Merrill & Company , Williston, Vt., lot 48. 26" x 21 1/2", overall 34 1/2" x 30 1/8".
