Description
Imperial German 1/2 L. Lidded Beer Stein "Die Wacht am Rhein" (the Watch on the Rhine) written by Max Schneckenburger in early 1800's and set to music by Karl Wilhelm in 1854. It represents the enmity between France and Germany along the Rhine River and was very popular during the Franco-Prussian War of 1871 and WW I. The etched stein is marked with the Hauber & Reuther logo and number 442, ca. 1900.
