Description
This is an extraordinary sterling silver Thomas Miller circa 1770-1830 Fusee Spindle Pocket Watch. The watch features a wonderfully and professionally crafted English sterling silver craftsmanship and a wonderful embossed scene of suitors with floral decoration around the border of the scene and the triple beveled face of the pocket watch. This is a Fusee spring or chain driven mechanical watch with a beautiful enamel face and is marked on the inside lattice T. Miller - London - 171362; and shows the English silver hallmark on the inside of the watch shell. Fusee is French for wire wound around a spindle is a cone-shaped pulley with a helical groove around it wound with a chain which is attached to the mainspring barrel. The condition of this pocket watch is good with wear and patina consistent with the age of the watch; there is a small infraction to the inner enamel decoration by the latch that opens up to the inner well of the watch. The overall measurements of this pocket watch 2 5/8" x 2 1/4" x 1 7/8".
