Lot 0399 Details

Description
A group of six Chinese embroidery panels dating from the 18th or 19th century. The group includes: a panel with mystical figures standing among clouds with several inscriptions, a panel with the eight precious objects, a panel with a pattern of cranes and flowers, a panel with a pattern of bats, a panel with a pattern of Shou character tiles, a panel with butterflies and flowers, and a panel with a phoenix and dragon tile pattern.

Dimensions are: the largest panel with the phoenix and dragon pattern measures 28 inches tall X 13 1/4 inches wide, 71.1 cm X 33.7 cm. All measurements are approximate.

Condition: There are loose threads, staining, separation, and tears throughout.

Provenance: From a private Northern Virginia collection. Collected in the early 20th century by the current owner's grandparents during their time stationed in China working for Standard Oil.
