RARE Chinese Ming Dynasty Chongzhen Period Blue and White High Rank Officer Motif Porcelain Brush Pot. The Porcelain potted in brush holder shape, sturdily in cylindrical straight body, thick potted, deep curvature, flaring round mouth rim, raised on flat round foot base. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white color which contrast against blue fine color, depicted of General horseback riding over the bridge surround with tree, flowers, Lishui rivers and scrolling tendril. A characteristic heaped and piled effect, the under glaze greyish-blue concentrates in certain areas, bubbling through the surface of the glaze and turning a deep blue-black. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design.

The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark greyish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim.
